devil-inside-her:

I’ve seen clips of Charlie Chaplin’s work before today, but I’d never seen any of his films in full. I also didn’t know until recently that he composed the music for all of his films. With that in mind, it was a real treat to see his 1936 film Modern Times played at the Strathmore Concert Hall in Bethesda with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra playing the original score in time with the movie.

Not only was the music delightful, but it was amazing to see an actor with such agility, dexterity, and emotive capacity as Chaplin. It’s rare to see actors nowadays who can communicate so much while saying so little and to such great comedic effect. (Or maybe I’m just not watching the right movies.)

Saw this Friday night in #Baltimore. It was fantastic. An experience I will not forget.
